With over two decades of industry experience, Nishi has been the driving force behind JurisTax. Equipped with a strong background in Law from the University of London, she spent eight years teaching law and corporate administration before she decided to use her expertise to change people’s lives.
Her visionary streak and pursuit of innovation gave rise to JurisTax in 2008, a business that evolved from a company with restricted services to the full- fledged management company it is today. She now leads JurisTax Group as the Group’s Chief Executive Officer. She not only guides the company’s strategic vision across all business units, but also oversees the daily running of their operations. She is a firm believer in empowering leaders within the Group, which culminated in JurisTax’s multi-boutique structure, with a CEO at the helm of each specialised branch. Nishi instills the same degree of passion into her favourite sport, kickboxing. She is devoted to a fit and healthy lifestyle through regular kickboxing workouts, where she enjoys being able to challenge her mental and physical strength. She also brings this grit and “mind over matter” resolve to the decision-making table—traits that have been instrumental in keeping JurisTax at the cutting edge of finance and technology.
Kovilen brings more than a decade of accounting and auditing experience to JurisTax. Having gathered local and global knowledge in the Big Four environment, he offers unique perspectives and breakthrough insights that come from working in various industries including banking, insurance, global business, tele communities and airlines.
As the Group’s CFO, he leads the company’s financial, human capital and IT operations with an uncompromising commitment to quality and professionalism. Kovilen has also spent a number of years acting as the anti-money laundering officer and is diligent in ensuring that the Group adheres to the best accounting, governance and compliance practices at all times. Football is a major part of Kovilen’s life. A Manchester United fan through and through, he also greatly admires the discipline and solid work ethic required to play football, which is why he is determined to use it as a tool for positive social change. He has been encouraging the youth in his community to build a football team, hoping to instill in them the values of fair play, teamwork and hard work, and steer them towards a healthier way of life.
Kessen showed a keen interest in the financial services universe at a time where there existed no modules or programmes dedicated to the financial sector at the University of Mauritius, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance.
He gained first-hand knowledge and on-the-job experience upon joining JurisTax in 2011. After a decade of demonstrating a strong sense of work ethics and unmatched leadership skills, he has been entrusted with the reins of JurisTax Ltd and JurisTax Services Ltd.
He draws his patience, prudent risk-taking and critical thinking from his lifelong love for football. An ardent Liverpool fan, he waited 30 long years to finally witness his favorite football club claim the Premier League title for the first time since 1990!
He applies these same virtues to the way he leads his team, instilling in them a sense of teamwork and winning mindset. It is this very philosophy that also enables him to devise creative solutions to meet his clients’ requirements and to manage a portfolio exceeding EUR 1 billion of assets under administration on their behalf.
Darsen serves as JurisTax Ltd’s Chief Operations Officer and leads a team composed of 40 staffs with a portfolio of over 500 structures representing a total asset under management of more than USD3 billion.
He joined JurisTax back in 2015 and moved up the ranks over the years and today as COO, he wears many hats: he acts as the Director of over 80 companies including funds, investment advisors and investment dealers. Having worked with leading companies in the global business sector for almost a decade, he has developed thorough knowledge of fund set ups, structuring and administration. He also trains his team members in matters of CRS, FATCA, IFRS and taxation using his strong interpersonal and people management skills. Darsen is one of many unwavering loyal Manchester United fans. He never misses a game and for him, football is more than a game. It is a reminder and lesson that you win as a team and lose as a team—a philosophy that has highly influenced Darsen’s style as a leader.
A corporate lawyer and compliance specialist in equal measure, Taroonah founded and developed several subsidiaries of the JurisTax group in different financial centres, namely, Mauritius, Dubai, Singapore, Rwanda and Delaware with the aim of providing options in terms of corporate structuring, succession or fiscal planning.
Her many years of working in the global business sector and a number of legal firms have allowed her to develop a firm grasp of the intricacies of the law and the complex global business landscape. Taroonah’s strength lies in her insatiable curiosity and love of learning new things, which she indulges by pouring into as many books as she can in her spare time. From encouraging lively discussions with her team over her mandatory morning cup of coffee, to regularly providing her expert insights to roundtable discussions in matters of compliance and jurisdictional development, Taroonah is persevering in her desire to drive a healthy corporate governance culture while advising on the optimal corporate vehicle.
Galvin has been serving as the Business Development Manager for JurisTax Services Ltd since 2018.
Prior to moving back to Mauritius, he gained invaluable international exposure by working with companies operating in the Dubai International Financial Centre and the Dubai and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre.
Today, his grasp of the many facets of the Mauritian jurisdiction enables him to acquire new clients and advise them on how best to maximise their investment while complying with applicable regulations.
Much of Galvin’s downtime is spent nurturing his green thumb. He takes great pleasure in making his garden come to life by growing flowers, plants and even fruit and vegetables. The best part for him? He gets to enjoy not only the literal fruits of his labour but also cultivate patience and a sense of connection with nature and his clients alike.
Lucqman joined JurisTax back in 2014, after having acquired five years of accounting and auditing experience in one of the Big 4 companies.
After successively filling in as Head of Unit and Assistant Manager, he today leads two teams at JurisTax Services and manages a portfolio of over 500 structures and assets under management of USD2 billion. Through his 13 years of experience in the financial services sector, he has gained analytical skills and a deep understanding of financial markets that enable him to specialise in the management of private funds. A passionate home cook, Lucqman is constantly on the lookout for what’s new, what’s next, what’s unusual. He is particularly passionate about creating gourmet pizzas from scratch, tossing the dough by hand and playing with toppings until he strikes the perfect balance of flavours and textures.
Bilall’s position as Senior Manager of JurisTax Ltd requires a firm grasp of fund accounting, business structuring and administration, and the technicalities of the IFRS and other international accounting standards.
Over the course of more than 15 years, he has garnered deep knowledge of the Mauritius jurisdiction, from the intricate double taxation avoidance agreements to compliance and legal matters, which he draws from having worked as an auditor for one of the Big 4 companies and the competitive Global Business Sector. A pool and billiards enthusiast, he has also mastered the technique of developing control, a high degree of concentration and tactical thinking required to accurately aim the ball—and above all, he has learned that it takes a great deal of training and practice to become an expert.
Harchit joined JurisTax in 2010 as a Corporate Administrator and was responsible for helping clients set up and manage their global business companies.
He progressively advanced to the roles of Senior Administrator and Team Leader until he was appointed as Manager of Operations for JurisTax Ltd in early 2020. His ten years of experience in the global business world, coupled with his leadership skills acquired over time, have enabled him to build in- depth knowledge in the setting up, structuring and administration of companies, funds, trusts and foundations. He takes his role as a leader seriously and continuously monitors his team members’ performance and motivation levels. Music and photography are hobbies that keep Harchit’s creative spirit alive. Nothing gets his creative spark fired up quite like capturing moments and memories, with “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias strumming in the background. Even in a cut-throat competitive corporate world, Harchit is a firm believer that creativity fuels innovative ideas and opens doors to new opportunities.
Yaasin has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services sector which include advising international companies on key aspects of corporate structuring, tax planning and fund administration. He has previously worked for Big 4 audit firms, where he acquired extensive audit and financial reporting experience in various sectors of the economy.
Yaasin is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and a member of the Mauritius Institute of Public Accountants (MIPA). He was previously a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and the Mauritius Institute of Directors (MIoD).
Sophie joined JurisTax Group in 2022 as Manager Business Development overseeing both the Business Development and the Onboarding (‘set up of entities’) departments. She brings to the Group more than 13 years of experience in the Financial Services Sector.
Sophie holds a Degree in Business Administration and a Master in International Management with university of Poitiers, France.
Sophie has previously been working in the finance sector for leading management companies forming part of listed groups as Corporate Administrator, Senior Corporate Administrator and Business Development Executive where she has gained the experience and developed her knowledge and skills on the global business sector.
Sophie enjoys horse riding during her spare time. For her, being a good rider requires not only to have proper connection with your horse, but you must also listen to his feeling and communicate with him. A good rider must also be perseverant and patient. Sophie is convinced that these skills are also essential in her professional life.
Krissen’s passion for all thing’s technology goes back to his early childhood. He successfully turned his innate aptitude for computers into his career.
As JurisTax Group’s Senior IT Manager, he is responsible for the smooth running, implementation and maintenance of all computer systems. He also oversees the Group’s IT projects, no matter how large or complex, ensuring to run regular checks on data security. And because technology is only effective when properly embraced and adopted, Krissen also conducts technical training to ensure that his team members are at ease with any new digital tool. Away from the office, Krissen can often be found unleashing his competitive spirit over a game of billiards. Much like IT, he enjoys the precision, accuracy and other technical skills that make the game so exhilarating.
