Manager - Operations

Location: Pune, India

JurisTax Group is seeking an experienced Manager to join our team in the offshore services sector. The selected candidate will be relocated to our Pune Office in India for a minimum period of two (2) years.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the ongoing development of a professional and achievement focused workforce and culture.
  • Design and lead corporate strategic change initiatives across the organisation. 
  • Provide the Chief Operations Officer with timely and accurate advice relating to the activities of our client companies. 
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans and performance measurement that promotes accountability and success. 
  • Provide visible and effective leadership. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship manager for assigned clients.
  • Conduct any other cognate duties as assigned by the Reporting line. 

Compliance:

  • Conduct necessary compliance reviews & MLRO reports across the business and on client files.
  • Produce/write reports summarizing relevant findings following compliance reviews/similar exercises or any paper / statement / communique issued by the competent authorities.
  • Contribute in the review and updating of the AML/CFT constitutive and Compliance manuals.
  • Be up to date with and ensure compliance with the various regulations and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in providing AML/CFT and Compliance trainings.
  • Assist in the update of business risk and clients’ risk assessments.
  • Providing assistance for the preparation of Business Risk Assessment and Independent Audit report. 
  • Ensuring regular review on World Check findings.
  • Ensure the update of all inhouse reporting and maintaining of registers applicable to the compliance team. 

Corporate Secretarial:

  • Conversant and stay up to date with the different Acts and Legislations in Mauritius. 
  • Ensure accuracy and quality checks on all deliveries by the team. 
  • Monitor the organization of Board, Committee and Shareholders’ meetings and ensure that notice and agenda and Board packs are properly drafted and sent to clients and attending Board meetings as required. 
  • Review minutes of meetings and resolutions including coaching of junior staff with minutes drafting skills. 
  • Understand client’s business and ability to identify and/ or provide value added services, where required; and 
  • Ensure that all entities are following all relevant laws, licensing conditions, regulations and guidelines and that deadlines are met. 

Accounting:

  • Remain up to date with IFRS. 
  • Lead and manage the full audit process from start to sign off. 
  • Conduct final reviews of accounting deliverables.  
  • Understand clients’ business models and identify opportunities for value-added services.

Tax:

  • Prepares tax computations for clients and complete provisional/ final income tax returns ready for filing with the tax authority.
  • Advises client on Tax Liabilities and reminds them on due date for payments of taxes.
  • Attends to queries arising from clients’ tax returns filed with the tax authority and ensures that prompt replies to the tax authority’s queries are prepared expeditiously.
  • Assists all tax clients with registration procedures with the tax authority.
  • Carries out VAT compliance and refund claims verification and follows up on VAT repayment claim.
  • Carries out Tax Compliance on the Payroll taxes with appropriate advice to clients.
  • Review clients’ tax and VAT assessments and recommend whether objections or appeals, as may be applicable, are called for.
  • Prepares and review Memorandum and Statement of Facts for Tax Appeals as may be appropriate to the Tax Appeals Board/Tax Appeals Tribunal.

Qualifications and key competencies:

  • Either a Degree in Finance and Accounting, Law and Management, Business Administration, or a Professional Qualification (ICSA/ACCA/CFA/STEP).
  • 6+ years of working experience within the offshore sector with at least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role; and
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools.
